Water Futures at Design Miami

Building upon the success of A/D/O 2018-2019 research program Water Futures, this discussion at Design Miami focused on the urgent need to reimagine water culture for the 21st century and the role of designers in responding imaginatively to the challenges of the global water crisis.

The panel discussed the need for interdisciplinary collaborations, as well as renewed interest in alternative practices such as harvesting rain or nature-based systems, to address water challenges and improve the quality of life in the city.

While referencing the pressing Miami context, the panel also covered projects that have emerged from the Water Futures program – including Water Tower by Studio Swine – and illuminate the designer’s part in inspiring new behaviors.
