CREATING A BRIGHTER FUTURE - THE POWER OF SOCIAL DESIGN

In 2017, creative minds joined efforts in Guatemala to celebrate craftsmanship, preserve traditions and generate impact using color. The result was Pintando Santa Catarina Palopó.

Attendees joined us for an immersive conversation about the power of design as a tool to create a positive impact in developing countries. Our panel gathered industry leaders and change makers who shared their insights on how design can transform communities, develop sustainable impact and align efforts. All to give back to Santa Catarina Palopo through a collection of limited edition chairs that highlight and honor traditional craftsmanship from Guatemala.

Panelists included:

Rebecca van Bergen – Founder and CEO – Build a Nest

Mitzie Wong – Co-Founder/Designer – Roar and Rabbit

Diego Olivero – Founder/Designer at Meso Goods

Harris Whitbeck – Founder of Pintando el Cambio

Moderated by Monica Khemsurov – Co-founder of Sight Unseen

This panel celebrated The Atitlán Project: a limited-edition collection benefiting Pintando Santa Catarina Palopó, a public art initiative supporting the Guatemalan town on Lake Atitlán.

The collection will be on view at A/D/O from May 6-8.
