ON VIEW THROUGH AUGUST 17

DISASSEMBLY : BROOKLYN is a site-specific, participatory installation that examines consumer electronics through the lens of sustainability and global social justice. The artwork explores the untold story of the consumer electronics lifecycle, and the devastating environmental and labor conditions of offshore recycling.

Participatory hours for the exhibition are below:
Monday - Friday, 2:00 - 4:00pm
Saturday - Sunday, 3:00 - 5:00pm

The artwork recreates a modern electronics recycling center where guests perform the role of the factory worker while watching real footage of the global poor disassembling electronics in toxic conditions.

Rather than creating new goods, visitors are invited to deconstruct e-waste and physically engage with technological viscera to create sculptures which acknowledge the misconception of today’s resource abundance and honor the true cost of consumerism.
